About the Role
As a Member of Technical Staff Intern, you will work alongside Sakana AI's research team on cutting-edge AI projects. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to published research, work with state-of-the-art infrastructure, and learn from some of the most experienced AI researchers in the world.
Responsibilities
- Conduct original research on nature-inspired AI methods under the guidance of senior researchers
- Implement and evaluate novel algorithms, contributing to research publications
- Run large-scale experiments and analyze results to advance understanding of model behavior
- Present research findings to the team through regular seminars and discussions
- Collaborate with other researchers and engineers on cross-functional projects
- Contribute to the development of open-source tools and research artifacts
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a PhD (or exceptional MS candidate) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field
- Strong research track record with publications in top venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, CVPR, etc.)
- Excellent programming skills in Python with deep experience in PyTorch or JAX
- Strong mathematical foundations in areas relevant to AI research
- Self-motivated with the ability to define and pursue research directions independently
- English proficiency required; Japanese language skills are a plus
