They also store your team structure on their servers, which is a real privacy concern: an org chart is sensitive information that can reveal reorgs, layoffs, and political dynamics inside your company.
This tool is different. It runs entirely in your browser with zero backend. Your chart is saved to localStorage — a feature of your browser, not our database. We have no servers storing org chart data because we don't need any. Open the page, build your chart, close the tab. Come back tomorrow and it's still there. No one else can see it. Not even us.
Why we built this
The big paid org chart tools (Lucidchart, Visio, Creately, SmartDraw) are all great — but they're overkill if you just want to map out your team. They also live in the cloud, which means your team structure is on someone else's server. For a startup planning a reorg, a manager mapping out a new team, or an HR lead documenting reporting lines, that's a problem.
Free alternatives exist, but they're either ugly, require signup, or aggressively upsell. We wanted something that just worked: pick a template, add names, export. Done in five minutes. No friction.
