About the Role

About the Team

OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.

The social media team’s ethos is to support OpenAI's mission and goals by clearly and authentically explaining our technology, values, and approach to safely building powerful AI. Our team is passionate about educating others, and are focused on community engagement — creating pathways for people to help shape the future of AI and educating them about important technological developments that will impact their lives. The purpose of social media is different here. We’re not focused on followers or likes; we’re focused on meeting people where they are at—both helping them with access to resources and tools they need to be successful in a world that’s rapidly changing, and staying attuned to their questions and concerns.

About the Role

As Social Media Analyst, Rapid Response you will be responsible for continuous monitoring of social and media platforms for OpenAI and senior executive mentions, emerging narratives, and reputational risk.

This role is designed for someone who is very online, deeply fluent in the dynamics of modern social platforms, and capable of identifying signals early — often before issues reach mainstream awareness. The Social Media Analyst will sit on our social media team within marketing and work closely with our strategic response team in communications.

You will play a critical role in ensuring leadership has confidence that emerging issues are being identified and evaluated in real time. Your primary responsibility will be signal detection, narrative analysis, and escalation judgment, not drafting responses. You will translate high-volume online conversation into clear insight for internal stakeholders, helping the organization understand what is happening, how quickly narratives are evolving, and whether escalation is required.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Real-time monitoring

Signal detection and narrative analysis

Insights and internal intelligence

Escalation and coordination

Analytical monitoring

Operational improvement
