Why you should join the AML Compliance Analytics team
At Adyen, growing responsibly and protecting the financial system is core to how we scale. The AML Compliance Analytics team, a specialized unit within the Second Line AML Compliance team, provides global oversight of Adyen’s transaction monitoring framework and owns the risk behind it. You’ll work at the intersection of AML typologies, data, and analytics: independently challenging the First Line, shaping Financial Economic Crime (FEC) risk scenarios, and defending our controls to Model Validation, Internal Audit, and global regulators. In a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment, you’ll help a framework that is under continuous refinement stay ahead of emerging financial crime threats.
We are looking for a driven, senior AML Compliance Analytics Expert to join our team in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate is a go-getter with a sharp analytical mind and deep FEC knowledge, someone who navigates diverse stakeholders and competing priorities with ease and delivers complex projects end-to-end. You are excited to work with a global, multicultural team, to challenge and be challenged, and to balance speed with regulatory rigor as you help set the standard for transaction monitoring at scale.
Senior AML Compliance Analytics Expert
Our team is encouraged to challenge each other and sharpen ideas together, because winning is more important than ego. This is a senior individual-contributor role: you lead through expertise, mentoring, and influence rather than line management. You set the methodology the team works to, hold sign-off as risk owner on changes to the transaction monitoring framework and engage with Model Validation, Internal Audit, and regulators directly to see that our controls are effective. You create your own path on problems that are often industry-first, and you bring the drive to move fast without compromising rigor.
What You’ll Do:
- FEC scenario design: Draft FEC risk scenarios that define the financial crime risks that our transaction monitoring must cover.
- Strategic challenge: Inform, advise, and independently challenge the First Line on the design, implementation, and effectiveness of detection methods, and ultimately approve changes to the transaction monitoring framework as risk owner.
- Technical governance: Draft and review procedures, guidelines, and technical model documentation, ensuring regulatory rationale for analytical choices is clearly defined.
- Risk-first product support: Support new product launches by assessing the risks to our current framework and managing any required changes.
- Analytical validation: Create validation tools and run data analysis to identify enhancements and drive continuous improvement of the global framework.
- Regulatory defense: Represent and defend our controls to Model Validation, Internal Audit, and regulators, and own remediation of findings.
- Global alignment: Align diverse stakeholders and represent Second Line AML Compliance in cross-functional workstreams that support controlled growth.
Who You Are:
- 5+ years in AML, Financial Crime, or Compliance Analytics; depth matters more than exact tenure.
- Proven track record in developing, tuning, or advising on FEC risk scenarios and transaction monitoring frameworks.
- A go-getter who owns end-to-end, navigating ambiguity and competing priorities with minimal oversight.
- A strong stakeholder manager, credible with engineers, regulators, and commercial teams alike; you talk straight without being rude.
- Comfortable forming and defending your own view under scrutiny, and holding sign-off as a risk owner.
- Data-savvy and hands-on: you dig into large datasets yourself in Python/PySpark to generate your own insights, and use Looker to turn them into the evidence that convinces your stakeholders.
- Energized by a launch-fast-and-iterate environment, balancing speed with regulatory rigor.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
